Just thinking about the civil war and how many soldiers perished, most very young and just kids, it's so very very sad. Sad for the mothers of the time to loose in many instances not one son but often two, three, or more.
We (US) have no date/holiday to commemorate them separately. A separate day of recognition outside of veterans day as the civil war was special amongst wars since it was a fight not against a foreign enemy but the US with itself. I have a son who is seven and just thinking that during the era of the civil war in another year or two or three, the army would be looking to pull him into a war. That's insane that it was even morally acceptable during that time.
Your tribute to the lost soldiers of the civil way is gorgeous. So many mothers mourned. In our way, we continue the keening because we remember.
Great Tribute for those poor young boys losing their lives. Voted up and beautiful
Moonlake, What a compelling, dramatic, tear-tugging, worthy tribute! It's really effective the way in which you manage to convey a wealth of images and actions through the rigid structure of the three-line senry?.
Thank you for sharing, etc.,

That was sad and touching.
War...if leaders had to pick up guns and go fight I am sure we would have much less. I live in the south and see many graves of these boys.
The senryu depicts the grief so aptly. Loved your work.
Such a nice tribute!
So much packed in a few words
