Handmade Christmas Crafts, Vintage.

I was going through our ornament boxes and pulled out all the ornaments you see on here. Their all hand made and most are vintage, we received from family and friends. Some of the decorations or ornaments I made. I hope you will enjoy looking at them. I have put on websites where you can find some of the patterns. I couldn't find patterns for all of them.

Santa For The Wall

This Santa was made for us by friends. I never made one but did find the pattern for making it.

When the granddaughters were little they loved this Santa.. Papa would hold them up so they could look at him and touch his beard.

I noticed on internet pattern they didn't show how the back was done. I included a picture of the back of the Santa.

Dried Bean Ornament

This little dried green bean is a Santa ornament for your tree. One of the kids made this and I'm not sure which one. It's an easy craft for children. Paint on the Santa and add a pipe cleaner for the hanger. I thinks he's a cute little guy.

I tried to find a pattern for this one but there wasn't one.

Sweater Stocking

This stocking I made from a stocking template. It's made out of an old sweater. I lined the inside with some old brown fabric I had. It was easy to make. Then I added the string beads at the top. I put a site on here where there is a template for a stocking.

Any old sweater, shirt or whatever you have will do. Sweaters work great because they are so thick and look more like winter.

Also this video will help.

Youtube Video for Making a Stocking

Video at YouTube a little different then the way I did my stocking but will show you the basic idea. A stocking can be made out of anything you have. That outfit your sending to Goodwill, cut it up and turn it into a stocking. Add anything you want to it for sparkle. A white stocking done with pearly buttons would look great. How about that red plaid shirt of your husband's your throwing away cut it up turn it into a stocking. Denim looks great for that down home stocking country . Old wool coats or shirts make nice stockings. If you make them yourself you can make them as big as you want for more gifts or small for just a few gifts.

Christmas Angels

These are angels I made from clothespins. I don't have a pattern. I painted the face then I wrapped the clothespin in the crepe paper ribbon just so it would cover up the clothespin. I used lace that was long enough to hit the bottom of the clothespin and tied it at the top with a ribbon. Then I just used my clue gun to add whatever I thought looked good on the angels. The packaged wings you can get in any craft store and also the hair. It's all very easy to glue.

I sold these at craft shows. People loved them. I wish I had some kind of pattern but I just don't.

I added stings of beads to their hair. Just wrap around and use glue gun to make them stay in place. Some of the beads in different colors I would braid together for her head.

I used minuture flowers, baskets, birds. Whatever you think will look good for her to hold. Even dried weeds from the yard will work or small pine cones.

I had fun doing these and the glue gun was my friend you can add on anything with it.

Bead Angel

This little bead angel ornament, my husband's aunt made years ago. Ever year she would mail us a bead ornament. I did find a site that has instructions for this little angel. It's a little different but it will work the same.

I have more homemade ornaments I hope to add to this hub. There was one box of ornaments I didn't get to. When I do I'll add them to this on here.

Crocheted Santa

This Santa I think is weird. My husband loves him. His mother made him for us in the 60's. We hang him up every year. I tried to find the pattern on him but couldn't he is crocheted on a L'eggs egg. I don't know if they even have the L'eggs eggs anymore. I guess you could use a large Easter egg.

If anyone finds this pattern let me know. I will also keep looking.

Froebel Stars With Video Instructions

My mother-in-law use to make these German Stars called a Froebel Stars. She said they made lots of them during the war. My husband said he remembers her making them later on also. She gave us some. I couldn't find mine their packed away in a big box of ornaments.

She would dip them in wax.

Here's a video on how to make these beautiful stars and a website on how to dip them. I think they are so pretty and they can be sprayed with glue and glitter added to them for that Christmas sparkle.

Great hub. I particularly love the angels made from clothespins. I can see why you sold a lot at craft shows. The details you put in their clothing, hair and hair ornaments were very well done.

Voted up, useful, beautiful, awesome and interesting.

These are fantastic! Someone here was showing how to make a Christmas wreath from coffee filters and it is so beautiful I want to make it but I am going to do it for Valentines Day and maybe just keep it in my bedroom afterward.

Jackie Lynnley,

Thank you, and thanks for stopping by.

The wreath with filters sounds like it would be fun to make.

Your "snowflakes" Reno and Doc may not have been happy but they are certainly cute! My favorites were your clothspin angels but liked all of your ideas. The paper star ornament dipped in wax looks pretty. Great hub...especially at this time of year. Merry Christmas!

These are great and beautiful ideas. Kids really enjoy crafts, so things like this can only help them to get into the festive mood, whichever festival that may be.
